Australian Open 2021 Dates to Be Finalized in the Next 72 Hours Trending News in India

Tennis Australia is scrambling to fix the dates for the 2021 Australian Open. With the latest mandate from the government making it impossible for players to arrive in Australia in December, organizers are sorting out ways to facilitate the mandatory 14-day quarantine period before the start of the Grand Slam.

The head of the Victorian state government Daniel Andrews spoke about when the Grand Slam could happen. But he was tight-lipped on the exact date on which it would be conducted.

‘‘I am very confident we will have an Australian Open in the early part of next year. The exact timing of it, the exact arrangements we put in place, they are not settled yet.’’

It is understood that the organizers and the government have just 72 hours to finalize the dates of the event. The Grand Slam is usually scheduled in the second week of January so players want to reach Australia before the end of 2020 to complete the quarantine and practice.

But now, due to roadblocks such as the ban on foreign players’ arrival in December and the quarantine, Tennis Australia might postpone the whole event.

Junior Australian Open has been postponed

The victim of this uncertain and troubled period has been the Junior Australian Open. The tournament directors announced to all players via a letter the postponement of the junior Grand Slam.

“These limits along with the increased biosecurity requirements have unfortunately made it extremely difficult for us to run a junior event at the 2021 Australian Open,” the letter read.

To maintain safety and limit risks, Tennis Australia has decided to postpone the Junior Aussie Open. It is an understandable decision as the organizers are having a tough time scheduling the main Grand Slam amid the strong restrictions.

Furthermore, there are serious dark clouds over the ATP Cup. The ATP Cup, which started last year, was a great season opener. But with the Australian Open having troubles, ATP Cup will take a back seat and might get canceled or happen later in the season.

Just like how this year’s French Open happened in September than the usual time in May, we could well see the Australian Open happen in February or March.

Ronda Rousey is professionally an American wrestler, but fans also know her as an ardent follower of video games. So much so, she received a gigantic World of Warcraft: Shadowlands gift from Blizzard Entertainment and shared it on her YouTube channel.

With this, she joins a list of other elite fighters who have documented their love for video games. UFC superstar Israel Adesanya revealed a few days back that he is fanboying over the stunning gameplay mechanics of PlayStations 5’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Ronda, however, isn’t new to the world of Azeroth. She has previously revealed how she had bonded with co-star Vin Diesel while filming for the seventh entry in the Fast and Furious franchise. After finishing filming, Ronda and Vin had bonded over World of Warcraft.

Unsurprisingly, Blizzard Entertainment honored one of its leading followers with a special gift.

The gift, upon unwrapping, revealed World of Warcraft merchandise. This included a shirt, and a custom made mask. Ronda also received a game time card that would allow her to venture into the world of limitless possibilities.

While she received the game time card, she revealed that she already has access to the game until 2022. This just reiterates her fondness for the title.

Finally, she revealed a collector’s edition of the title that contains rare items that will aid her journey and make it more interesting.

Blizzard Entertainment also included a limited edition microphone that would enable her to share her in-game journey with the fans.

Instances like these assert how the video game industry is deeply associated with a lot of other disciplines. It has helped the community to expand its horizon and has bridged the gap between the celebrities and their followers.

Dustin Poirier Says He Would Have Never Fought Conor McGregor If He Would Have Fought Tony Ferguson Trending News in India

The rematch between two UFC veterans, Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor, is finally official. UFC fans seem extremely delighted at the prospect of watching this highly anticipated match up.

The fight will take place on January 23 ’21 at UFC 257 at a location that is yet to be disclosed. But it’s rumored to be at the Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.

The ‘Diamond’ Poirier recently interacted with MMAJunkie, he talked about his rematch with the Mystic Mac, Tony Ferguson fight, and the future of the Lightweight division.

Poirier opened up about the prospect of taking the McGregor fight if he had fought Tony Ferguson, “Yeah, we both (him & Tony) would have taken a trip to the hospital after that one. But these training camps are pretty grueling at this level of competition and preparation.

“So, to do a training camp for Tony to go out there fight, come back home, and plan to do it all over again fly back to Abu Dhabi with my team, do a whole another camp before that would have been a tough task.

“I don’t know if that would have been impossible. I might have been able to do it but it would have been tough for sure,” he added.

Poirier also said that both he and McGregor are completely different fighters now. He was emotional in their first fight, he wanted to ‘hurt’ McGregor but the scenario has completely reversed after their first meet. He now wants to ‘outsmart’ McGregor and beat him.

Can Dustin Poirier settle his scores with Conor McGregor?

McGregor & Poirier have previously shared the octagon in 2014, wherein the Irishman beat the American via TKO in Round 1. Moving further, McGregor became the UFC Lightweight champion by beating Eddie Alvarez via TKO.

At that moment, McGregor held the Featherweight Title and was adjudged as ‘Double Champ’ following his win over Alvarez.

Following his loss to McGregor, Poirier turned the tables on his fate magnificently. The ‘Diamond’ secured 9 wins in the Lightweight division.

He beat Max Holloway to bag the Interim Lightweight Title in 2019 and earned his shot towards the ultimate gold. However, he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in the title fight, but he put on an exhilarating show for the UFC fans.

Realistically, Poirier has an upper hand going into this rematch against the Notorious one. He has been an active contender in the Lightweight division and is the most improved fighter on the roster.

The ‘Diamond’ is coming off a dominant victory against Dan Hooker in June 2020. He will be extremely pumped getting into this rematch and squaring up with the Irishman.

Will we see an early finish or will this fight be a 5-round affair? Who are you rooting for and why? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

"A Lot of Tears": Warriors' Steph Curry Reveals His Reaction to Klay Thompson's Injury Trending News in India

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are one of the most iconic duos in NBA history. ‘The Splash Brothers’ became one of the greatest backcourts in NBA history, winning three NBA Championships in four years with the Golden State Warriors.

The two players are some of the greatest shooters in NBA history. Fans have been waiting to see the two back together on the court. Klay Thompson got injured in the 2019 NBA Finals and had to be out for the entirety of the last season.

Steph Curry was injured during the 2019-2020 season as well. People thought they would see the two players back on the court this season. But over the weekend news broke that Klay had suffered another season-ending injury.

Steph Curry spoke to The Undefeated about Thompson’s injury. Curry opened up about how saddening the news was and said, “You feel for a guy who has worked so hard to get back on the court two-three weeks out of [training camp] and something like that happens…You need to have a big-picture mentality when something like this happens.”

Curry noted the challenge of rehabbing from the kind of injury that Thompson suffered but was optimistic about his recovery and said, “It’s easier said than done going through a lot of rehab, but there is a lot of time left in his career. We’re going to be there through it all.”

Steph praised Thompson for being the best in his position in the league, and how the news of his injury brought him to tears. He said, “He’s the best 2-guard in the league….To get that call was a gut punch for sure. A lot of tears. You don’t really know what to say because a guy like that is having to go through two pretty serious rehabs now.”

Curry believes that it is important that the team be there in support of Thompson in this hard time. He said, “But at the end of the day, we have to have his back. We hope that he is around and a part of what we do through his rehab and staying connected with us.

The former two-time MVP believes that Klay Thompson will recover and talked about his love of basketball. Curry said, “He can come back strong. He’s a guy that loves the game so much. He is going to do whatever it takes to get back out there on the floor and be himself. That’s what we hope and the confidence that we have.”

Curry did mention that the challenge of long periods of rehab could be tough for anyone and said, “Two-and-a-half years of rehab is tough for anybody. We’re hoping for the best.”

The Golden State Warriors will have to find a way to win without Klay Thompson this season. They have made moves to bring players like Kelly Oubre from the Phoenix Suns and James Wiseman through the draft to help plug the gaps.
