Delhi man arrested for duping 4000 people of Rs 400 crore under fake DDA policy | Trending News in India Trending News in India

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday (November 30, 2020) said that they arrested a Delhi man for allegedly looting over Rs 400 crore from 4000 people under a fake Delhi Development Authority (DDA) policy.

One of the main accused, Harender Tomar, 36, was absconding for long and sold his old residential accommodation at Roshanpura (Najafgarh) and went underground. He was detained at Kochi Airport by the Immigration Authorities while trying to flee to the Maldives.

“Amount of more than Rs 400 crores was collected by the Society from approximately 4,000 gullible investors and only 21.95-acre land was purchased in society through the registry and about 23.50 acres of land through GPA/Agreement to sell for the project in question,” said the Economic Wing of the Delhi Police

“The cost of the dedicated land is less than half of the amount collected from the investors in the name of land cost and the remaining amount was misappropriated and siphoned off to various other entities,” Delhi Police added.

Tomar in conspiracy with other associates, reportedly established a company ‘Shree SidhdhiVinayak Realtors and Securities’ and purchased land measuring approximately 11.77 acres and sold it to the Society at very high rates ie double-triple of the prevailing rates in the relevant span of time.

According to Delhi Police, approximately amount of Rs 120 crore was transferred from the Revanta Society to his company for the purchase of aforesaid land. Tomar and his associates are the beneficiaries in crores of rupees of the misappropriated funds of the Society. All the relevant bank accounts have already been got debit frozen.

Delhi Police said that the investigation has revealed that DDA envisaged a policy in the name of Land Pooling Policy for ensuring the availability of sufficient houses under planned development of Delhi and in anticipation of this scheme, various builders and promoters grabbed it as an opportunity to exploit the situation by showing rosy pictures to innocent flat buyers and raised huge amounts from them for advance bookings in the name of registration and allotment, etc.

Further, investigation regarding the roles of other conspirators and associated persons is in progress. Three accused persons – Satender Maan (Ex-President), Pradeep Shehrawat (President) and Subhash Chand (Secretary) have already been arrested in this case.

As per the report procured from DDA, it has not issued any license or approval to any of these societies and no one is authorized to advertise or market, book, sell, invite persons to purchase any plot or flat in any project under the land pooling area without any prior registration of the project under RERA.

Delhi Police said that various attractive schemes were being floated in the market by different societies and builders in the name of DDA’s Land Pooling Policy demanding registration fee and initial payment booking of flats.

“However, DDA has not issued any license or authorized any developer or builder, society, company to undertake the process of development in the sectors under land pooling policy. Further, DDA shall be able to issue such provisional or final development licenses once the sector is qualified for development,” said Delhi Police.

They stated that as per the notified policy, in order to make the sector eligible for development, a minimum of 70% contiguous land of the developable area within the sector – free of encumbrances is to be pooled.

Delhi Police informed that as per the investigation and the contents available on the alleged website, it has come out that the name of land pooling policy of DDA has been used to give an impression and spread a message in the masses that the projects are duly authorized by the competent authority.

They added, “In this way, the facts have been misrepresented and the material information with regard to the DDA’s approval pertaining to the proposed projects has been suppressed in order to induce the public at large.”

Further investigation is in progress.

Desertions in TMC as Amit Shah visits West Bengal; here's what happening in state ahead of 2021 assembly election | West Bengal News Trending News in India

In yet another jolt to the Trinamool Congress (TMC), party MLA Banasri Maity resigned from the party’s primary membership on Friday marking yet another such exit in the past 48 hours. The two-time MLA from West Bengal’s Kanthi Uttar constituency said she has sent her resignation to TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee over email.

“I do hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the All India Trinamool Congress as well as from each and every post or assignment given to me in connection with my membership of the party,” Maity said in her letter. This has triggered speculations that the legislator might join the long list of ruling party leaders who are likely to join the BJP.

The senior TMC leader from East Midnapore district is a loyalist of former TMC heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari, whose exit from the party prompted other leaders to follow suit.

Barrackpore MLA Silbhadra Dutta severed ties with the party on Friday morning. Former minister Shyamaprasad Mukherjee, too, has announced that he would leave the TMC and join the BJP.

From Hoogly district’s Chanditala, Chanditalla I Panchayat Samiti TMC Alamgir Molla resigned from the party citing lack of proper respect in the party. Alamgir said that he sent his letter to the DM of Shrirampur. Alamgir is also a supporter of Suvendu Adhikari and said that he will follow the same path as Adhikari, adding that “if Suvendu Adhikari goes to BJP then he will also go to BJP”.

Pandabeswar MLA and Asansol civic body chief Jitendra Tiwari quit the party on Thursday, hours after Adhikari resigned from the primary membership of the Mamata Banerjee- led party. However, on Friday Tiwari mellowed down his stance and expressed his desire to meet the party’s top brass, after Union minister Babul Supriyo, speculating his entry into the BJP, said that he wasn’t welcome in the party.

Things seem to have taken a different turn for Tiwari, as Supriyo and other BJP leaders opposed his entry into the saffron party. Taking to Facebook, the Union minister said he would try his best to ensure that TMC leaders, who had in the past “tortured” grassroots BJP activists, do not get to join his party.

“What my Top Bosses decide is a different thing, but I will try my very best with all my might & honesty to ensure that NO #TMC leader who tormented, tortured (both Physically & Mentally) my grass root level BJP colleagues in Asansol, don’t get an entry in BJP !! (sic),” he said. Supriyo also dismissed rumours that he had “under-the-table dealings with TMC leaders of Asansol”.

Reports suggested that BJP state president Dilip Ghosh has also come out in support of Supriyo. Tiwari, on his part, said he has never expressed any desire to join the BJP. “I had never said I would join the party (BJP). I want to meet TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and party leader Abhishek Banerjee. Let’s see what happens,” he said.

Tiwari resigned as the chairman of the Asansol Municipal Corporation’s board of administrators and Paschim Bardhaman district chief on Thursday, days after he accused the West Bengal government of depriving the industrial town of central funds.

News agency PTI sources had said he was supposed to meet Banerjee on Friday and talk about his grievances. Shortly after resigning from the party, however, Tiwari had said he wouldn’t meet Banerjee. Hinting that a rebellion was brewing in the ruling party ahead of the assembly polls, Adhikari had on Wednesday night held a closed-door meeting with its disgruntled leaders, including Jitendra Tiwari and senior MP Sunil Mandal, in Paschim Bardhaman district.

Election to the 294-member West Bengal assembly is likely to be held in April-May 2021.

Amit Shah's 2-day visit to Kolkata: From roadshows to rallies and lunch with locals, everything you need to know | Trending News in India Trending News in India

KOLKATA: BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata at around 1 am on Saturday (Dceember 19) on a two-day visit to take stock of his party’s affairs and to strength the party organisational support in the rural outskirts. Shah’s visit to Bengal comes ahead of the high voltage 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal, which is only four months away.

In a tweet upon his arrival in Kolkata, he wrote, “I bow to this revered land of greats like Gurudev Tagore, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar and Syama Prasad Mookerjee.”

Speculations are rife that Suvendu Adhikari, who gave up his cabinet portfolios and the Trinamool Congress, may join the BJP during Shah’s visit along with a slew of disgruntled TMC leaders, including some MLAs.

Shah is scheduled to address roadshows and attend public rallies in two western districts of Bengal – Midnapore and Birbhum – during his two-day visit. He will address a public rally at Midnapore on Saturday where a number of TMC leaders are likely to join the saffron party.

The Union Minister is proposed to visit the Ramkrishna Mission and Siddheshwari Kali temple in the district. In the evening, he will address a political rally. In between, Shah will have lunch at a farmer`s residence at Belijuri village in Midnapore. After his day’s programme, the Union minister will return to Kolkata and is likely to have a meeting with his party colleagues at a hotel in Kolkata’s Rajarhat.

On Sunday, he will be in Bolpur in Birbhum district. He will visit the Visva Bharati University and is slated to have lunch at a Bengali folk singer’s house. A roadshow in Birbhum has also been scheduled for Sunday. The Union Home Minister is expected to interact with the locals and visit farmers` households in the district, party sources said.

The BJP’s state chief Dilip Ghosh has said that Shah and party president J P Nadda would visit West Bengal every month till the assembly elections, likely in April-May, are over.

Nadda was on a day-long visit to north Bengal in October and came on a two-day tour last week, while Shah was in the state for two days in November.
